Female zebra finch fluffed up

She started being fluffed up and looking sleepy yesterday , now she is fluffed like a ball , is it possible she is trying to lay an egg again?
I dont know what to do to make her stop laying them .
When she fluffs up she has short shivers , but not constant , maybe in 10 minutes she would shiver two times with her wings , in short bursts maybe 1,2 seconds , then she would keep being fluffed up with closed eyes , is she trying to pass an egg maybe?
It is night time but this is when I noticed her shiver bursts , she was on the ground when I found her ..
She is firmly standing on perches but lets me get closer to her then before she hops our flies away , she seems dissoriented but I think it is because I turned on the lights and she was relaxed before that .
Anybody could tell what these shivers mean?

I tried to catch her , to check if she is alright and after I moved my hand out of the cage , maybe 10 seconds passed and she closed her eyes , to me this looks like she is trying to pass an egg.

you need to provide heat, on one side of the cage. If you suspect egg-binding, apply calci-boost to the beak - one drop, and if necessary, a drop of olive oil to the vent

cocci/parasites will cause the wings to shudder also..turn her over and check the belly, does it look like there is an egg shape bulge down near the vent?

How are the droppings?

If egg binding do not use oil on the vent, it will do nothing except as the egg passes it can get on the egg and clog the pores of the egg, can lead to bacteria getting in the egg.

Direct heat from a heat lamp at about 85 degrees... calcium to the side of the beak at this schedule:

1 drop first hour
1 drop second hour (noticed an improvement)
Then 1 drop 3rd hour.
Then give 2 drop 2hrs later at least get 3/4 drops into the bird first day if you can.

i really dont have anywhere to buy these products , but it when she shakes her wings it looks like she is trying to shake something off , kind of like when she is g rooming , i will check on her condition tomorow it might be because of stress as i cleaned the cages when it happened and i am a bit clumsy at that too so maybe she is alright.
by the way the is it possible that she is shaking because when i tried to see what is happening i turned on the light and it was dark , when she shakes you dont see a lot of movement but there definetly is a sound , kind of like a cloth ripping (prrrrr sound) sorry for typing like this i am using a phone plus English is not my native language

And now i noticed the male staring to hop on one leg over night .
Its nighttime and the birda are sleeping in my room and i keep hearing thump tick , tick sounds as he hops on one leg , i placed him on my finger and he was standing just fine i cant fall asleep because of worrying

The female died this morning I really couldn't do anything for her , if I knew it was this bad I would've tried to push the egg out with my own hands , my country is the worst of the worst , you cant find anything you need and have to improvise yourself , like living in a freakin jungle .
I went out and burried her where I walk my dog.
God this feeling is terrible

I am so sorry you lost your female zebra. How is your little male doing ?? Do you have a cage grate on the bottom of the cage ??

So very sorry.

If this happens again (hope it does not) will advised not trying to push it out, it can be too large and pushing it can break blood vessels in the uterine lining and and around the uterus. If the tip of the egg shows itself and is too big to pass the rest of the way you can hold the hen upright and gently pierce the bottom of the egg, careful not to break the egg inside her, allow it to drain and as it drains the shell should collapse and fall out.

If you can find human grade liquid calcium with D3 at the pharmacy you can get that to have on hand incase of emergencies like this.

lem2bert No I do not have that , I do like the birds to touch something natural instead of a wire , or plastic or w/e there is , the male is i can tell a bit sad , I am considering buying a new hen to make him not so lonely.
@cindy Yeah I get that , but I am afraid that the egg wouldn't break inside of her and eggs sharp edges cut her.

Sorry you lost your hen If you cant get vitamins or calcium drops offer your hens crushed chicken eggshells and give her access to natural sunlight (natures way to vitamin D) to absorb the calcium. Hope that helps with your future hen.

one drop to the side of the beak, do not force the beak open drop the drop in the back corner of the closed beak. this is incase of an emergency for eggbinding

So sorry you lost her. No, you couldn't have pushed an egg out without crushing it, and then she would have been in even worse trouble. It is the down side of having hens.
