I think Elana is saying to put the bird in a bathroom with a shower and if you run the shower on hot it will steam up the bathroom. I have also put a heat lamp next to the cage and a small humidifier near the cage, plus giving the hen liquid calcium drops directly to the side of her beak near where the beak meets the head.

Sure I will do that.Thanks a_gouldian.
How does calcium plus helps to cure the egg which is already stuck in.What is the chance of the bird survival.
Trying to manually put the egg out of the bird seems to be risky & chances of egg breaking might be high. That's why everyone is quiet about it.
How much time do I have?

The calcium helps, trust me.
Liquid calcuim to the corner of the beak.
Steam and warmth.
Taking the egg out manually, will cause a broken egg and infection.

Re: Gouldian female egg bound
Hope your little girl pulled through. To answer your earlier question about the calcium after the egg has formed; you are correct that the calcium will not help the shell at the point of being egg bound. However, it will help the muscles expel the stuck egg. Also, if she continues laying the calcium will help prevent the nest egg(s) from getting stuck.
