Quail had a stroke?? help
one of my coturnix quail seems to have had a stroke. Half of her body is not working properly, she can flap her right wing but her legs and left wing are not moving. She is alert and wants to eat and is trying to get up but her feet are not cooperating. I have her in a box. I really have know idea what to do. IF I can do anything, Please Help!!!

Here's an article above regarding strokes in birds. It talks mainly about Budgies but I think the information is still pertinent to your situation.
Personally, I know basically nothing about strokes in birds.
If you have an Avian Vet in your area, I would definitely be in touch.
Sorry about your poor birdie, and I wish I could be of more help.
Good luck.

Poka (that's her name)Is not doing any better but she is not doing worse either, so I guess that is a good thing. She can eat on her own and (if I help her sit up) is drinking. While I was helping her drink she tried to stand up!

Eating and drinking is a good sign. A wheelchair-like device may be useful; if it supports the lame side, it should be easier for her to walk.

Re: Quail had a stroke?? help
she may have jumped up and hit her head if startled... it takes time for swelling to come down, swelling can put pressure on the brain.... vets have meds to help with swelling if given shortly after the accident, it also helps with pain..... glad she is improving.
