Thanks Cindy, and sorry you lost your hen as well.
I guess it's one of those things that's very difficult to deal with, even when one has a Vet on call and all the meds available .
For my poor girl, it was her first egg ever, and it was big and hard. By the time I found her, the tissue had already stuck to the egg and was dry, poor little thing, sigh...
I must say, that it's not something I ever want to deal with again.

Re: Complete Uterine Prolapse
So sorry again and thank you.....I still think of her. Scarlets can bond strongly to their mates, the male was depressed for months, put his daughter in with him for company and he just sat there, that was difficult to watch, broke my heart.
One of my other pairs produced, tried one of their daughters with the same sweet disposition like my original hen had.... he slowly took to her but not like the original hen.
Eventually most who breed will deal with either prolapse, egg binding complications, a hen with enlarged egg up high in the body too big to pass. (had this also happen).... and you can do everything right when setting your hens up, diet, calcium when going to nest to when then hen stops laying.... often all good that is done does not prevent some of these issues....knowing how to deal with them quickly, what to have on hand can help ease some of the pain and discomfort the hen goes through.
