hard lesson learnt

Post by gomer » Fri Feb 27, 2009 5:22 am

long story but will try to keep short.Started new job twelve months ago, working in extreme heat at times like 40c during winter 60c plus on hot days in summer. So have become sort of immune to the heat.

Decided today to start organising young for up coming sale, since the weather felt good.caught up one holding cage to check all health and worm.as photo below.

Image

Then let them go back in aviary, noticed a couple looked stressed. So went inside to get drink before starting the rest.Checked ambient temp 35 degrees celcius. So decided to hot for birds to be chasing them around etc.went back after an hour to check the ones i had caught, and found eight dead on floor.didnt i feel bad.luckily i didnt just go and do the others,as there is more in that holding cage.

So i hope by writting this it may be a lesson as it has been a painful one for me.

And Donna,I've made a big &*&** mess today!
adiction is better than cure

Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Oh that's too bad - I'm sorry. A hard lesson indeed and a good reminder for the rest of us.

Gosh...so sorry to hear you lost some of your birds that way. Don't beat yourself up too badly....sometimes things like this happen. And thanks for sharing....a good reminder for all of us.
