Hello Finch Forum,
I got, what I believed, were two female weaver finches from the local pet store in January.
Turns out that one sings and started showing orange butt feathers- so I think it's actually a boy. (S)he has since plucked all of its chest, bottom, and upper back feathers. (S)he's still singing, eating, flying- generally seems healthy- minus the feather loss.
I need help to know what to do to help him, my vet is out of options. I am brand new to finches, and to the forum, and would welcome the groups' help. Thank you very much!

Here is some general information abot Weavers, and some information about plucking:

From what I gather, these birds need very large flights or aviaries to be happy...
So we're talking...
https://www.amazon.com/Prevue-Products- ... B000BQU2R4 minimum or:
They also need live foods, greens, and some fruit.
The plucking may be due to frustration or boredom, or dietary issues.
