bald fledgling

Post by patdave » Sun May 06, 2007 6:11 pm

My little fledgling is about 4 weeks old and it is bald from the neck up. I don't know what has happened. Is this caused by a disease? Have had clutches before and everything was always fine.

Hi there,
What kind of finch is it? I have had zebra finch fledglings get plucked by the parents. Sometimes they become agressive towards their young and try to chase them away from the nest so they can start a new clutch. Unless you see any other signs of disease thats probably all it is if they are zebras. The feathers should grow back fairly quickly.
