scatt expiration?

Post by debbyloo » Tue Dec 29, 2009 10:08 am

How long does Scatt remain effective in the bottle? I have a bottle of it that is about 5 years old and was opened and used only once or twice during that time. It has been sitting in a dark room temperature cabinet all this time. There is no expiration date information on the bottle. Is it likely to still be effective or not?

Also, when treating a gouldian for suspected air sac, scaly face and scaly leg, will just applying a drop of scatt work for all of these or must I apply something to the face and legs too?

Thanks for any guidance!

I believe the bottle I purchased had an expiration date that was 3 years past the date of purchase..

About 2-3 years is the expiration dates I've had with Scatt. I believe it can be used to treat all mites.

To help with the scaly feet/legs - I have coated their feet/legs with a thin layer of Vaseline or Polysporin a few days in a row. If you cover the mites - they will suffocate (as least it worked for me).

Thanks so much. I am proceeding with a 2-day/3 wk dose of S76. I will probably apply the S76 to the feet and beak to deal with the scaly mites as well. I have a new bottle of Scatt but don't want to overdo the dosing so will save it till next time.
