I don't know how to spell the word for the prolapsed part of the female finch that sometimes comes out. I just got done reading all the posts from the strawberry finch with the same issues mine presently has.
She's only had 3 babies who just recently fledged. I saw mama Zebra at the bottom of the cage with blood all over and something hanging. i tried to push it back in, but it's too swollen. She's in the hospital cage. and of course it's a saturday night. Can't get her to a vet anytime soon.
This is very sad, I know she's not going to make it. There's a possibility she won't be so swollen and I can try to reinsert the ?sp?. But I'm not sure it will be do-able.
Will dad Zebra be able to handle the chicks? There are 3 and they are out of the nest mostly all day.

That was my Strawberry hen you were reading about. Unfortunately, I doubt your Zebra hen will survive even if you were able to get her immediate vet care.
Keeping her in the cage with her mate and chicks probably won't harm her any further.
You could move her to a hospital cage to keep her quiet if you want though, the chicks are old enough that dad can take over feeding them.

Hospital Cage
I do have her in a hospital cage, with warmth, she seems calm, and eating of all things. The "uterus" is not as swollen, but I still can not get it in.
I just hate waiting for her to die. I almost would rather have her euthanized, but again it's saturday night. How long does she have to suffer like this. I hate this part of breeding. All these surprises out of no where and always on weekends where I can get no help. I'm very sad because I know I'm waiting for her to die.
