Red Cabbage

Post by Domenic » Sun Jan 31, 2010 1:16 am

I'm going to be feeding my finches the mix of carrots, red cabbage, and green cabbage every day. Is red cabbage ok for finches everyday or only green cabbage? I don't think there is much of a difference really.

I can't help you with that, Domenic, I don't know for sure, though they are both cabbages. My Walmart now carries the mix that has red cabbage in it, while my Kroger still has the green cabbage/carrot mix. I have enough birds that I just buy a bag of carrots and a head of cabbage, but for just a few birds, those bag mixes are sure handy.

I’ve given to my birds salad mix that contained red cabbage and they were fine. Red cabbage is good for parrots, so it should be good for finches.

Ikhom, I actually just discovered that Presidents Choice now sells a slaw mix including, green/red cabbage, carrots, and brocolli. Takes away the task of having to buy all 4 foods separately. 8)

Thanks guys. I figured as much, just wanted other opinions on it as well. Janine, where do you purchase the mix with broccoli? That would be much easier for me too because broccoli is a food I've been feeding everyday.

#-o Woops, I completely wasn't thinking about the stores being different in Canada. I'll look for President's Choice and see what I find though.
