So I have 2 male goulds that are finishing up a molt. They seem to be acting fine, active, flying about. Pine feather opening up but they seem hoarse.
When one sings it is very quiet and not like his normal song. Even his "sweet sweet" chirp is a whisper. The other sings fine but his usual chirp is hoarse and raspy. Both are acting fine otherwise.
I will be treating today again (just to be safe) for ASM but they are not wiping their beaks or breathing labored at all. Just hoarse.
Any ideas?

Re: Hoarse gould
Were they reared by societies? Hand reared?
They need to learn the song from thier parents or other gouldians.
I one left a couple of ophaned/tossed with the societies... these boys have the strangest song ever...even after I moved them to the gouldians.....

Re: Hoarse gould
They both have sung fine ever since I had them. The one (a dilute) going on a year now. The other always had an annoyingly load chirp...piercing as a matter of fact. I am kinda glad he can't do it anymore. Actually happened since I moved them out of earshot of the females and put them in the new bird room...could they be calling for them so much that they go hoarse?
(I keep the girls in our family room and the bird room is in the garage.)
