It really depends on the bird. I've had molts of a couple of weeks, and molts of a couple of months.

Are you referring to the juvenile molt or the annual molt? If it is the juvenile molt - it ranges from 4 months old to as long as 8-9 months. The annual molt usually takes 3-6 weeks. I also find that my Gouldians molt faster during the warmer summer months than the cooler winter months.

Yeah... the annual moult. So it is only once per year once the are adults that they moult? I think it is a real pain!

So these are my goulds... looking very unfeathered

Do they look normal for an annual moult?
I know they are both at least a year...

A couple of mine are still molting too. It takes a while to grow back all those pretty feathers.

Fresh eggfood can help things along. Protein to help build new feathers and all that....

We do eggfood... probably not as much as I should. My finches are also on a pellet diet, and always have access to cuttlebone, mineral block, and chopped egg shells. I try to do eggfood at least twice a week, but many times it is just once per week. They also get lots of veges and vitamins, etc...

Are you also providing them with kelp? The extra iodine seems to help mine through their moult. And without it, my hen was severely bald.

I also do kelp in their bath water...
It is liquid kelp, is it possible to put a direct drop in their mouth, or is that way to potent for them to handle??
Can I treat a Gould with kelp and Scatt at the same time?

Considering that my liquid kelp is supposed to be administered 1 drop pere two cups of water, I would say that a drop directly to the beak would definitely be too much. I'd stick with your current dosage. I also provide kelp granules in a cup free-choice.
