I hope that maybe your little one is feeling better by now...!
You've got lots of great advice so far! I'm still a beginner but the people on this forum are amazing
But I"m curious about the injection the vet gave to your bird. Was it Baytril? I work at a vet clinic, and while we don't do birds very often, I know that Baytril is given because it is a long acting antibiotic. One of it's prime benefits is exactly that: one injection will generally be effective for 2 weeks. Basically it takes the onus off the owner to give meds twice daily (which quite frankly rarely happens making the meds ineffective), keeping the pet fully medicated for that entire time.
I don't understand why you would then have been required to give more daily. Seems to me that would stress the bird more, and without reason.
Sorry - just reread what I wrote and I realize it sounds like I'm questioning your vets treatment. I'm not, I'm just curious about the methods.
And how IS your finch this morning? It's a terrible thing to have to wait through any illness with these tiny birds. I hope he's better and singing for you!!!

Hi. I got up this morning to find him sitting on his perch and cheeping, so I took the cage over by the window (his favourite place when the sun is out) and he started singing repeatedly. As I type this message, he is hopping about the cage cheeping, listening to people making noises in the street outside, eating, drinking and singing.Mozelle wrote:And how IS your finch this morning? Looking good at the moment, but I will continue to keep an eye on him!

Great news!!
And I messed up... Baytril is a fantastic antibiotic, but I was confusing it with another that is longer acting. (I should Never post before I have a coffee....)
Felt a bit foolish when I reread my post a few minutes ago
I'm so pleased to hear the happy news!!

I am glad you finch fills better. Sometimes birds do act weird and looks as if they are with one foot in grave, but next day you look like nothigh ever happened to them. You mentioned something about the window. Can he possible got cold from draft? Maybe he had some kind bird flu?

i hope not. It isn't particularly drafty by the window, and his cage only goes there when it is warm and sunny. The rest of the time his cage lives on a table by the wall in my front room where it is nice and warm.tajuano wrote:I am glad you finch fills better. At this moment in time he is flying around the cage and leaping up from his top perch to hang upside down from the top of the cage like a bat!

By the way, I would try and take a video of him doing this 'trick', but he tends to get camera shy the moment I start filming him and will just sit and do nothing.

Several of my finches do that - Societies, Green Singers even my Strawberries.Youngpilgrim wrote: At this moment in time he is flying around the cage and leaping up from his top perch to hang upside down from the top of the cage like a bat!Has anyone else owned a finch that does this? Haha. Either way, he is full of energy and perfectly well. Thank you all for your advice. I hope he stays this way for a while.
We hope he stays well for you for a very long time!
