Re: Need help/suggestions!
Are you treating him with anything...does he have the loose stool and wet vent or is he weak?

Re: Need help/suggestions!
His vent is not wet and his stools are normal but he was extremely weak and lethargic. He could hardly even stand up on my hand without falling over. Since I've put him in the hospital cage he slept most of the day and just now I have seen him eating some millet and he's drinking some water now and is perching on the water dish. I have not put anything in to treat him yet because I really don't know what else to try other than maybe the tetra-tex. I could try rush ordering some meds if I know what to get.

If you have not done so, put a heat lamp on his cage.
A 60watt blub in a reflector would do just fine.

Dayna, do you think he might have stunned himself, flew into the side of the cage? Keep him warm, see how he does. He seems like he is coming around a bit. He doesn't seem to have the same symptoms as the other bird. (I didn't look but was the other bird in with this bird?)

Re: Need help/suggestions!
Hi. Yes he was in the same cage as the other bird but he never appeared sick. The only one that ever appeared to be sick when I brought them home was the blue that I just lost. None of the others appear to be sick either. It could be possible that he got spooked during the night and ran into the side of the cage. I never thought of that I just got so paranoid and scared when I saw him at the bottom of the cage that the rest of my flock caught it and were slowly going to die off one by one. Hes not really eating any of his seed and hes not perching but hes eating the millet and drinking so I will keep an eye on him and hope for the best that he pulls through this and that none of my other birds get sick. I do have a heat lamp on him so we will see what tomorrow brings.
Thank you all so much! Really really appreciate all the help. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Dayna try a little hard boiled grated egg. Don't leave it out to long since you are using a heat lamp. He might like it and it might help him regain his strength.
Merry Christmas Dayna. Keep us posted.

Re: Need help/suggestions!
I am with Cindy on this one it sounds like coccidia.
When you move birds they stress and this can bring out coccidia, the weight loss ,wet vent are all indicators or this.
First signs of a sick bird I treat with ,Spark Liquid Concentrate is a blend of body salts and readily absorbed energy in a liquid format. Ideal for supporting birds during transportation or during showing or in times of stress. Provides energy and electrolytes assist birds in recovery from illness or stress. Can be administered directly in emergency situations to provide fast acting energy. Hydrates and supports birds during times of extreme temperature.
Recommended for: Use in aviary birds drinking water in times of extreme temperature or as a first aid supplement for sick, stressed or injured birds.
I woul dthen look for symtoms and treat .

Re: Need help/suggestions!
Thanks for the link Diamond Sparrow. I will definitely refer to that for next time (hopefully their wont be one... for awhile anyway
).
Update on my other male: He seems to be on the road to recovery (knock on wood). He's perching now and slowly becoming more alert and active again. Still a bit puffy but a huge improvement from where he was just 2 days ago. Hard to believe its only been 2 days, feels like so much longer.
Question: Does anyone know a website that sells Avian Meds like Baycox and others just to have on hand for emergencies?

Has anyone used the product by ABBA for coccidia callred Rx SulfCox? If so does it work just as well as something like Baycox? It says it treats and prevents coccidia but the active ingredients are different than the ones used in Baycox.

My experience is that baycox is the best drug available and the simplist to treat.Dayna wrote:Has anyone used the product by ABBA for coccidia callred Rx SulfCox?
