I will keep my eye on her :) I haven't treated her with s76 nor Ronivet though, i haven't had the guts to treat her myself since i am not sure what the problem is, so if she gets worse i'll take her to the vet :) :^o

Treating with both is relatively easy.....Ronivet is easy to mix and you give it for 7 days, it is even safe enough to treat at double the strength.

Yeah it isn't hard - im just afraid that it might do any harm :/ like if i would treat her for the wrong thing and she ends up dying  Could it be dangerous for birds to treat with ronivet-s 12% when one is not sure about what illness they have ?

If i gave them the Ronivet-s powder in a double dose, should i treat for only 3 days then ? :^o

Thank you for your patience Cindy! I hope you understand me well, im from sweden so my english has its flaws :D

I don't think there is any problem giving them Ronivet.
I give all my birds a treatment of Ronivet as they go thru quarantine.
I recently lost 3 gouldians, and not knowing the actual cause of death, I put them thru the full quarantine medication treatment.

I would not shorten the duration, give it to them for the full 7 days.
But you can reduce the strength of mix part way through.
For 12% Ronivet, 2x for 3 days then drop to 1x for 4 days.

I am also putting 4 of my zebras thru a Ronivet + Amoxitex treatment now. Only 1 threw up, 1 was behaving poorly, 2 behave normally. But since the 4 of them were exposed to each other, I am treating all 4 of them.

The one that was looking the worst, got much better once I put her into a cage with a lamp to warm her up.

When Gary write 2x it stands for doubling the powder ratio to 1 times the water, then back down to 1 x's the powder to 1 times the amount of water indicated....I also do this during quarantine except with birds that come from very questionable environments I use double strength powder to 1 times the water for the entire 7 days...

so for 3 days it would be 2 times the amount of powder to 1 part water

4 days at 1 times the powder to one part water

or 2 times the powder to 1 part water for 7 days for stubborn cases.

Im sorry to hear that your zebras are sick too Gary :( i hope the treatment helps!

I have done quarantine-treatments on all my societies about 1 month ago - so i thought they would be healthy - thats why i was wondering if it is dangerous for them to have Ronivet given to them again, so close to the first treatment :)

Thank you for the good explanation Cindy! [-o<

Today my society hen looks perfectly fine :? maybe i just got stressed out since i saw her "vomiting" once and thought it was something wrong with her! She behaves just like the others and is always eager to taste the veggies/sprouted seeds i put in their cage :)

I might do a Ronivet-S treatment just to be sure, since it wouldn't do any harm! I might also get a dewormer from ladygouldianfinch - but i have to think about if i dare to do this first  I recently was told that it is illegal to order medications that are normally over the counter/prescription here in Sweden  When i ordered the Ronivet-S and S76 from ladygouldianfinch, everything went well though..

The probably mean medications for humans, not avian or animal medications. Always a good idea to double check if you're unsure. I hope the Society keeps doing well.

Glad she is doing well. The ronivet and ronex are sometimes given again if symptoms with a bird come up again soon after the first treatment. From what you said she appears to be feeding or courting one of the males.

Do be careful in ordering meds, keep us posted. Hoping the best for you and your birds!

I really appreciate your help guys! I feel much calmer now  I'll keep you updated about my society hen, i really hope it was just something stuck in her throat that made her gag that one time!

Finchmix22: I'll call the customs some day and ask about what is legal - but this person who said that it was illegal to import medications for birds to sweden was a member of a budgie forum that i follow! She said that S76 for example can be prescribed by vets here in sweden (its called Ivomec here) and therefore is illegal to import  They have strange rules here in that case, since the customs didn't take my package from ladygouldianfinch

Today i went to a local pet shop - and while i was there i got the chance to talk to a lady who is very experienced in birdcare. She told me that the vomiting might have happened because my society hen simply ate too much and got her crop too full! She said that its the breeding season for birds here in sweden now, and that my hen might think that she is about to have eggs, and therefore eats more than usual!

I dont know if this info is correct, but i thought it sounded logical since the vomiting only ocurred one time :)
My hen is still lively and well, which makes me feel much calmer [-o<

I am more leaning torwards her courting and trying to "share" her food with a prospective mate...I would just watch her and see how she does. Since you know of a t least two time and one you witnessed her bringing up food and there has been nothing since I would just observe her.
