I'm sorry to hear about the finches and what a sad reminder to us to be careful and not forget that our finches are much more sensitive to airborne particles than other animals. Now, I have to check my pans.

She and her hubby are doing alright they gave the aviary a good cleaning and redecorated it with new greens. She told me her hubby took her to Eugene,OR to buy some water slagers & stafford Canaries then they picked up some Red Factors in Redmond. She is going just have canaries for now. They couldn't leave the aviary empty being such a big part of the room so they are starting over.

She had a nice selection of birds before Gouldians, CB's, Zebras, Twin Spots, Owls, Parrot Finches and alot of canaries (Stafford, Glosters). This past summer she had over 30 canary chicks luckily she sold most of those.

Her hubby built an outside aviary last spring right in front of the window the indoor aviary was built then cut a round hole in the window put a tunnel there for the birds to fly outside when they want to. The outside aviary was made from 5 wooden screen doors. The inside aviary is a large walkin at least 8 to 10 ft long and floor to ceiling. They sit in two big overstuffed easy chairs to watch birds.

It's not just birds that succumb to Teflon poisoning. She's lucky that the people are all right.

Note the high temperatures listed on one of the responses in the forum. Used wisely, Teflon shouldn't be a problem. However, most people wouldn't realize the potential danger.

Lots of things used improperly are dangerous. They have a TV Show demonstrating this... "1000 Ways to Die" (or whatever the proper name is).
