So sorry to hear of BeeBee's passing
It sounded like she was in a really advanced state of illness - I'm not sure there is more you could have done at this point of time. Would love to see pics of her when you are feeling up to it.

Re: One of my zebra finches is ill.
Did it feel it was my fault I let it go this far without doing anything about it aside from cleaning her butt to prevent constipation from my story? I feel so guilty when I let an animal die when it could've been fixed. Only the very first bird I had that died had a sickness that I feel for sure it wasn't my fault; she (not BeeBee) died of the West Nile Virus long ago. I do seem to have bad luck when it comes to the females. I've lost six females and only two males over the period I've started caring for zebra finches.

There are sometimes things that happen that no matter what we do it will not fix the problem. She may have internal adhesions that held the egg inside and she could not physically pass it no matter what you could have or did do for her. There may have been nothing you could have done for her but made her comfortable.
Again I am sorry for you loss.

I am working on a video dedicated to BeeBee's memory right now and found a couple songs that fit perfectly. Perfectly to where tears fall down my cheek as I am thinking about her. I will post the video whenever it is done. Won't be tonight probably.

Oh no, sorry that she didn't make it. You obviously cared about her, so please listen to the others and don't be so hard on yourself.

Re: One of my zebra finches is ill.
Thanks for being at my side during this crisis, everyone. It's hard to lose a bird and yet she's not suffering anymore. I sure hope her spirits doesn't come back to haunt me on Sunday, if you know what I mean.
It sure feels like something is missing now that I have two birds left, and they're both boys. They feel like something is off, too, aside from chatting with me. I used to always talk to zebra finches at their own level and they always respond thinking it's another zebra finch when it's me. It's so adorable. If you tried talking to your zebra finches by going beep-beep, they'll likely say something back.

Don't beat yourself up, it was a learning experience and you'll know for next time if you ever see symptoms again in another bird. I'm sure she knows you tried to help her and miss her very much.
It sounds like you have a nice bond with your little ones. I had a zebra male named Luther (just passed away from old age last week after 9 years!) and he, too, used to sing back and forth with me. It used to be a little ritual we'd have each morning. There were a few times he'd make me late for work cause he didn't want to quit going back & forth with me LOL

Re: One of my zebra finches is ill.
One of my two birds turned 8 years old in February and he looks and acts much younger than that like he's never aged. He was born two days before the extra day in February back in 2004. Actually, his sister would be 8 as well if she didn't die from a sudden injury last year. I was hoping for both siblings to reach a really old age, maybe even beat that record. That's my goal.
