I'm in Calgary and I was able to get SCATT here. Seems strange to hear it's banned. I bought it about a month ago through someone I know who has things shipped to her all the time. I've been dealing with ASM too and tried Ivermectin for several weeks and nothing. SCATT seemed to have helped for a bit but when I did the second treatment 21 days later I could still hear the clicking.
It's also strange to me that she succumbed so fast as my birds have had it for a while without such a fast decompensation. I caught it before they were listless though.
Wish you luck and sorry for your loss.

I am also shocked to hear that it is banned in Canada.
The store that I buy mine from still has it on their online site.

We might want to list Canadian websites where Scatt is still listed for anyone who wants to contact / email them and see if they do indeed still carry it.
Here's a site in New Brunswick that I order from periodically. The owner is Joanne and she's super nice and gets orders shipped the same day or the next day at the latest.

Re: Possible Air Sack mites in Gouldian - treatment in Toron
Thank you for the online sites!
I'm going to do a little investigating into Scatt "banned in Canada".
I'm going by what a few places I tried to buy it from told me...I also posted an ad to buy it on Kijiji (my desperate attempt) and a few people did reply that it's banned in Canada and can only be ordered from the US or abroad.
Anyways, I am picking up the Iverlux today....
The male is still in good spirits as of this morning, although his voice is non-existent....I wonder if it even is ASM...The hen had ALL the symptoms, but he only has a loss of voice so far..no coughing, no 'clicking' sounds...
he's not puffed up...
But his voice is just gone. He's still singing, but whatever is coming out is broken and faint.
We'll see how the next few days go...

I did google that and came up with nothing. My daughter also checked out the CFIA site and also found nothing.Jasmin wrote:I'm going to do a little investigating into Scatt "banned in Canada".
Glad you are picking up the Iverlux - hope it helps. Mention the symptoms to Casey and see what he thinks.Jasmin wrote:Anyways, I am picking up the Iverlux today....

Thanks for asking Liz,
I gave him the first dose of Iverlux yesterday. I saw him eating and drinking, so that is good. His voice is still missing and he's still breathing heavier than normal but he's not puffed up and unresponsive like the hen who passed away was. So I am very hopeful

So far, so good. I would keep (or give him) the heatlamp available for him whether he is fluffed or not.
Best wishes for continued recovery!

Re: Possible Air Sack mites in Gouldian - treatment in Toron
So a little update:
I gave the male 2 doses of Iverlux for ASM (a drop on the back of the neck 2 days in a row) and his voice is BACK! He's singing up a storm right now!
His breathing is much better as well.
I hope this Iverlux does the trick and that my diagnosis was correct!
I'm trying not to celebrate too much yet..
