Me too...at first hubby said 6 months, but that would mean winter...not a good season for transporting birds. So, I think Fall will be a good time. I just have to clear it with my vet first.

Ginene oh you are getting them shipped! How exciting! I don't know how that works but ican imagine the excitement
I have a large bird store near me about 30 minutes away. I think I might venture out during the week or something. Can't wait. Really I should wait for the chick to hatch and a cage but I just want to see ...what they have...

Lil Joe is doing ok. He and my hubby miss the birds too. It is too quiet around here now. That place you are going to sounds awesome. Wish we had a place like that around here. I am going to take things slow and do lots of leg work before I decide where to purchase.

Ginene awww ok. I understand completely I just feel so bad for what you have gone through and wish I could do something to make it better. But definitely if I need the cages I will let you know! I just might considering how my birds love to brawl.

Re: HELP zebras all hating on each other.
chirpy@Ginene so I have some mixed news. The second baby fledged for good earlier this morning and when I got home baby 3 and 4 were also fledged. BUT they were all missing their spotted tail feathers. Shadow is plucking them even though Kuri isn't in there and the nest is removed. So I moved the other three into the cage with the first baby and Kuri. They come to me easily and seem a lot calmer and less skittish with her. AND they were all eating mashed eggs off my fingertips and taking tiny droplets of water from the tip of a plastic syringe with the needle tip removed. They are sooooo sweet! I really hope she can keep up with the feeding but if she can't at least I can try to get them to eat from me. I am happy they are all safe with her and reunited and they seem calm and trusting. Even she has calmed down a lot and doesn't try to fly away when I put my hand in. She watches cautiously but the babies were right next to her when I was feeding them and she stayed. Obviously she saw what I was doing. All of them are victims of Shadows plucking. Just like poor Sparrow was. Unfortunately he is still on his own and I don't know if I could eventually put one of these babies in with him. But I am also going to most likely need to grab a few of those cages you have, Ginene!!

oh god my heart skipped i thought you were going to let us know they all were missing an eye.. OMG.. you scared me! I love Sparrow but 5 one-eyed babies is a bit much
Poor little babies, thankfully mommas doing a lot better though
do you think Sparrow will be OK with them in his cage (or, him be in their cage..?)
Shadows being quite mean lately.. I was reading up on finches of the species I know of and I keep seeing zebbies getting in a riot with eachother.. so sad you have to be going through this!
it isn't fun!

Re: HELP zebras all hating on each other.
chirpy so far I have no idea if Sparrow would get along with anyone. I had put mom and the one baby in there and he was fighting with mom. Not sure if it was because the baby was there. He did go over to the baby and lightly pecked at it but I don't know if it was out of curiosity or defense. At this point I don't know!

Re: HELP zebras all hating on each other.
So this morning I woke up to some very hungry babies. It's seems like Kuri can't keep up with all of them. I tried to offer then some eggs from my fingertips and they were taking them but then mama clucked and they all suddenly stopped! UGH. So I took the two bigger babies and put them with Shadow because he is the better feeder. If he plucks them I SWEAR I'm gonna punch him in the face!!!!!! I hope they will all be ok. They are so freaking adorable! And of course one baby keeps trying to eat millet and bites on it but doesn't get much but hulls.. and keeps trying to eat poop. I will see how this all pans out.

fhgwgads awwwwww take a photo!!
LOL remember the spaz photo of Kuri? LOL
Kuri, whyd you have to destroy the moment, geez.. buzz killing.
I hope Shadow is being good.. let me know! If hes far far away, from momma do you think he won't pluck? what if you put nesting material in there to satisfy his beak..? or would he want to breed with the chicks.. so confusing!!!

Re: HELP zebras all hating on each other.
Sorry you are going thru this, but welcome to the frustration of raising zebras.
Dad is in breeding mood, and until he gets out of it, he will not be good company. Keep him separated from mom, for now.
I had zebras that did not get along with each other, to the point that I had to keep them in individual cages. IOW solitary confinement.
You cannot be emotional about this, if they need to be separated, they need to be separated. Keep mom and dad out of visual contact with each other. Better if you can put them in separate rooms so they cannot call to each other.
As was mentioned, be prepared to separate the chicks by sex.
In my case ALL my non-breeding birds are separated by sex. This prevents unplanned population growth.
