It's awesome that you got the thumbs up from a vet. Avian vets are SUPER expensive...You were lucky to get one that would speak to you over the phone. It took me 6 months to pay off my $1200 bill!!! Hopefully this combo will do the trick for Kuri. It's amazing how these little guys get sick out of no where. My Ernie started to puff up again today out of the blue...

. I have NO CLUE if its his tummy again or not, so I put a heat lamp his flight and am keeping a close eye on his behavior, poop and vent. So far puffy is the only symptom. Btw...its good to hear that Charlie and Kuri are already crushing on one another

. I cant wait to hear how it goes when they are finally united.

Ginene I faked them out and told them I was prescribed meds already was giving the Iverlux and wanted to know if it was ok. They didn't ask my name or anything.. and if they caused a problem I probably would have said something like the place I went to is closed or the Dr. isn't in and I need to know. It's crazy because I understand that vets are doctors too and need to make money.. but if someone is in a serious situation and needs advice.. sometimes they get so snotty and refuse to give it! These are people that are supposedly animal lovers that wanted to dedicate their lives to saving animals lives.. is it really that bad to help someone out every once in a while? And it's not even helping a person out it's helping an ANIMAL out. I just don't get it.. I really don't. I could see if I went in and expected tons of tests done and a whole list of meds for free.. but dayum. One of the places I called to ask around if I could any help.. I didn't even ask. I just explained I had a sick finch and I didn't know how much it was but just by her tone I knew it would have been one of those "you have to bring the bird in and pay us otherwise it's going to die and it will be ALL YOUR FAULT" situations. I mean.. don't get me wrong.. there are amazing vets out there. I remember when I had brought my parakeet to one years ago and she had a tumor filled with blood and was basically dying he was so gentle with her, and was so compassionate.. and he put her under so she wouldn't be scared when he did tests.. and then offered to euthanize her before she came to so she wouldn't feel any pain at all. He really was amazing.. but that was over $200. I just really hope I have this pinpointed.. and if not I hope I can get the amox and that that will work. And I keep getting worried over everything! If she blinks the wrong way I get scared. If she takes a nap I have a heart attack. At least she is sleeping on her swing again tonight. But ugh!! Tell me whats wrong, baby!! I wish!! I am sorry to hear that Ernie is feeling under the weather, too!! I hope he feels better.. poor little guy. Maybe there is something going around.. I am getting sick too!! I just hate seeing my babies sick! I would rather have ebola and have them be 100% healthy!! Well maybe not ebola.. lol. But you know what I mean!!!
@chirpy I hope she will get better too! She seems to be a little better at least.. she was active today.. but she was still taking naps.. but then again that could be her normal self. I am literally driving myself insane! I guess because of how quickly Shadow went.. and how I had no idea what was wrong and he barely had symptoms I am just super worried and it's making me sick.

Nanajennie I hope she stays better!!! I am so afraid of her getting worse!! And then poor little Charlie will have to start over!! And you don't have to thank me.. though you are very welcome

Charlie is a fine name and I am proud to have a name such as that.. especially in honor and memory of your little Charlie!! He is such a sweetie too! Still sleeping on the edge of his food bowl in the corner closest to Kuri's direction to keep her company as best as he can and watch over her and protect her! She has recovered from me having to grab her last night to put the Iverlux on because she knows me.. but as far as he is concerned I attacked his girl!

lovezebs Kuri seems to be doing better.. but Charlie was doing some weird open-mouth neck stretching/head bobbing today in the evening for like a minute or two. I am not sure if this means it's ASM.. and that they are becoming dislodged or lodged as I am treating him too.. as well as all of my birds. I really hope he will be ok!!!! I am confused though because Shadow died.. and Kuri showed slight symptoms only a few days after I got Charlie.. and now Charlie is acting that way? Is it really possible for them both to have ASM?? I am so confused! I hope my birds are just weirdos. All the others seem happier than ever!!

When I got Roseanne she did this because she was "stressed" - for forum pals have told me the open mouth gaping was her scared and stressed. Rocksteady was always nice he was scared but never like Roseanne. Hopefully its something of that nature and nothing sickness related.

chirpy my only concern was that I have seen them all including him pant from stress before.. and this time he was bobbing his head a lot and stretching his throat in a weird way in between singing to Kuri.. and it was just chance that my boyfriend noticed it as he wasn;t that close to him or bothering him. I hope it;s nothing, though!!

Hi fhgwgads,
I was sad to hear about Kuri being unwell as well! I hope she gets better! Finches are such delicate little things, and they react to stress very quickly. I can advise that my canary, and both of my finches exhibit the kind of open gaped mouthing (you mentioned) when they get stressed. Good luck with her and Charlie
Kind Regards
