Boy oh boy, we are in a violent state of mind lately... you should go and bite the neighbours, grrrrr...
By the way, not nice to threaten a lady with a spanking on her Birthday, especially when the lady is older than you. Show some respect for the elderly, young man !!!
So what might be the problem with the eye, do you think? I have never heared of something like this before. Poor birdie.

lovezebs Belated Happy Birthday for yesterday. The bible say to chastise those you love. And spankings are fun.
I suppose it must have been physical damage to the eye.
The 4 cocks were fighting at times over the 3 hens that I had in the aviary and at times were chasing that hen to mate with her. Then I shortened the flight length from 10 meters to 3. The cocks are kind of rough in their lovemaking. It could have happened then or when I had them in the traveling cage or in any number of ways.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes.
I hope your little birdie retains at least some vision in that eye, poor girl. Did I tell you, that my boy pulled all the tail feathers off my girl (guess he figured she needed some loving chastisment) . My poir little girl, now looks like a red and green baby chicken.

lovezebs That is always the case when he wants to breed and she doesn't. Nature is seldom gentle.

Rox The 1st pair to breed hatched 6 chicks, but only 3 survive. For 1st time parents, 3 chicks are not too shabby. Yesterday one of the 3 chicks fledged, but it looked so miserable and cold that I put it back into the nest. They hatched on the 4 and the 5th of Jan, and are fully feathered and should have left the nest already. Perhaps they will jump out today as it is quite hot.

I am happy to report that my RTP finch is now keeping both eyes open and does not seem to favour the right eye anymore. It looks like the eye made a full recovery.
