Could be an allergic reaction to meds...call the vet and either talk with the vet or vet tech.

I called earlier today but my vet (the only avian vet in this city) was not there and the vet tech could not give us any advice. Good thing we have an appointment tomorrow morning when our vet is in

interesting thread learning a lot here. If you started a new antibiotic and he began itching could be an adverse reaction to the drug. Call the vet. Waiting to see what Cindy says.

Apparently the dosage is too high (3x a day 0.6ml of the 1/4 pill in 1/4 cup water, ahould have been 0.3ml but we had no-one to give us the info as she was away at the time) and that's what could cause itching. So, we are off anti-biotics altogether. Said it could also be mites (doubt it-when any of our other birds fell ill they never had mite issues, but treating him anyways with what we were given) Said it could also be vitamin A deficiency, but he's still on hand feeding formula for the most part but maybe there is an absorption issue due to antibiotics, so she gave him a shot of it into his crop. Also could be his liver not functioning properly but she said it doesn't seem to be enlarged (if we had liver enlargement with other birds secondary to an infection we would put a drop or two of milk thistle in their water, seemed to work well). He kept itching so much his cheeks looked raw so they recommended an avian aloe spray (blue bottle) which I applied using q-tips as not to get it in his eye. We were advised against using polysporin. Hope something ends up working!
