All I do is mix up the 1/2 tsp. Worm Away in 5 oz. water, then put it in a small bowl or cup, unless I know the birds are used to my tube waterers. I take away all water at night, and then I offer this treated water the next day. At the end of the day, I toss it. I only do the wormer this one day, I feel they get enough in one day. The directions say it is a one dose treatment.

No, not at all. They may drink about an once a day. It's only four birds.

Re: Preventative care
I understand it's a one-time dose, but to me it's not clear what the amount of the dose is. The only measurements are the 1/2 tsp to 5 oz water. That solution renders differently if I have 20 birds than if I have four birds. I will do as you say and provide it in the morning.
**edit
How many sips of water does a bird take in a day, in a cage?

It would be highly unlikely that your birds only drink about once a day, most small finches normally drink quite regularly especially in hot weather

Re: Preventative care
you can mark the tube with a marker or piece of masking tape at the water level if you are curious to see how much treated water your birds consume

Meant to write an ounce a day. I see them go multiple times to the water.Stuart whiting wrote:Hi mate, jimenezl wrote: No, not at all. They may drink about an once a day. It's only four birds.

Re: Preventative care
Personally, I wouldn't stress too much over it. I just do the Worm Away in the water for that one day, and then at the end of the day or even the next morning, I just toss the rest of it. I figure if they have been drinking, they got enough of it. If they haven't been drinking, I have bigger problems than worrying about worms.

Re: Preventative care
Help! I have an outdoor aviary and have been losing a bird a week. They seem fine, then find one fluffed up and secluded, breathing with open beak and then dies. What is going on??? I'm new to raising birds and this is very disheartening. I've now lost a pair of Lavendars, a pair of Gouldians, one red-cheek courdeon blue.
