Suppose to be an expert avian vet. Waived the $70 exam fee because it was a first visit. Charged $35 for the shot and a few meds. I could see he was trying to load me up with expensive services that might have saved the bird. Hate to put a dollar value on any of my pets but $300 with no guarantee for success was more than I wanted to gamble on just one of my 200 birds. Miss that one but 6 more Goulds fledged since then.
Favorite hobby is continuing to improve on a landscaped, weather protected, 500 sq ft mixed aviary with 23 fascinating species. 30 years in the making; currently have
19 different Finch species, 2 types of Doves, plus 23 Button Quail and 30 pair of clear Red Factor Canaries.

I am so sorry for your loss.I also hope your female will be ok .I use to many years ago had a veterinarian and a tech that just loved all animals back then I had a few farm animals and dogs no birds then but it was never about the $$$$$ it was truly the love they had for animals.I understand you not spending big money we love our animals and they use that to get as much $$$ that they can.Everytime I take my dog it is geting ridiculous.a $15 rabies shot at petco turns to $100 as soon as you walk in the door.so sad
