Baytril can't be used on babies younger than 21 days old, the alternative is Tri Sulfa for two weeks

Baytril can also cause wing tremors....if anyone using this notices wing tremors contact the vet

Sally I agree that the Tri Sulfa is safer and a good choice to use.
As mentioned I only use baytril when it's chronic outbreak and choice is to save the parents first. So far been lucky to never experience side effects to any young in nest that survived.

if using baytril on finches older than 21 days you may want to consider using medistatin or nystratin since baytril tends to bring up yeast/fungal in finches.

I ended up mixing probiotic with water and just offering dry seed, and it seemed to clear up the problem I threw out all egg food and vitamin mix and started over fresh.

if it occurs again I would consider going with the tri sulfa... 10 to 14 days.

Probiotics will not cure cocci if that is what it is...
