Liz
hey Liz, hope the birdy feels better today.
Question:
Did you treat the birds for mites when you got the birds?
Did you use any dewormers?

these are a must when you get a bird at home.
Most of the birds especially the little guys can have mites and is very hard to tell.

how is her droppings look like?
check her beak as well try to open it and see if there is any weird yellowish stuff inside or around nostrils.
another thing you can do is listen for clicking sounds or something similar when she sleeps.

Hi all.
I'm very sad to say my poor little female died last night. I haven't a clue what was wrong with her but I think she had a disease when I bought her. I've only had her for 2 weeks and now my little male is alone again. I don't know how much more his little heart can take. He was very stressed when we removed her and is still on edge if I go near the cage. He must think I'm a horrible person. Thank you for all your help but I don't think anything could be done for her. Xxx

So sorry you lost your little girl. We often have no idea what happened, but when they die so soon after we acquire them, they could have been ill already.

Oh Lizzie, I'm so sorry.

I agree with you and with Sally, that she was probably sick already when you brought her home and just became worse with time.

I hope you'll have the opportunity to find another companion for your little boy after some time passes and he calms down.

Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate it.

I'm going to give my little man some time to relax and de-stress he's been through a lot these past few weeks and needs to get back to normality.

I think I'll wait a little while and will go and see a reputable breeder to get him another mate. I will not be purchasing any animals from my local pet shop ever again.

Liz If you put your general location in your profile, it might help others direct you to reputable breeders.
