I asked my husband about mosquitoes and wasps, he said they can fit through the smallest of holes like in a fine guage wire. If hungry enough mosquitoes will feed and try to get to anything they can to get a blood meal. Make sure you empty any standing water in and around the aviary to lessen the chances of mosquitoes breeding in there.

During the summer months you may want to consider getting screening like they use on patios, attach it to your aviary on the outside with a 2 x 4 or a wood strip inbetween the cage screen and patio screening, that way will move it away from the screen of your cage so little finch nails don't get caught in it. It will act as a barrier to keep wasps, mosquitoes and flies out.

hope your birds get well fast.
