Babs
Makes sense. I started the cleaning anyway. I am amazed you couldn't sleep as tired as you are. Are the babies doing well?

Re: Blue's vet visit---UPDATE

Elana think you missed my last post..... ;)) Babs Sally Debbie276 Cindy tam Jenny Debbyloo, and anyone else I missed....<3

And to EVERYBODY who has been following Blue's story......

I have GOOD news!! No, I have GREAT NEWS!!!!
Blue is looking much better \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ WHOOP WHOOP

My sweet little birdie doesn't look nearly as rough. His skin responded very well to the antibiotic cream. Perhaps all the cage cleaning helped too. Today my order from Lady Gouldian arrived. They sent teaching sheets!!!! I was so happy about that. I followed the instructions exactly for the AIL spray. I used the S76 also as instructed. I did buy their charcoal, liquid calcium for any egg binding, and Thrive Sick bird formula. I received 2 free samples so I ordered Herb Salad and the Problem- Solution Trouble shooting guide. They showed a picture of a SICK bird and I was so encouraged!!! That sick bird made Blue look really GREAT.

So all my babies have been treated. We caught them. Sadie and Romeo are together, the 2 socies who CAN mate if they want too. I have Meepers the female zebra and Nellie the cordon blue hen in there with those 2. HOPEFULLY they will be compatible. The other 4 Socies are all sisters and are in flight cage of their own and Blue is alone. He looks so much better. I creamed him up again today but this may be the last time or close to the last time that he needs that. The improvement is amazing and he is getting feathered back up; OR he has stopped scratching them out and doesn't look like such a mess! Seems fast for sprouting feathers. Free flight is over until we have moved.

Anyway...we are on the mend here. I :YMHUG: am so grateful :YMHUG: ^:)^ :YMHUG: for this FORUM!!! For all of you!

I started reading in NOVEMBER. I had an 8 year old lonely bird that ate seeds and water. He was grieving his buddy bird. Now there are NINE birds, 3 cages, plans for an aviary, I make egg food, bird bread, chopped fresh greens, eggs shells, vitamins, heat lamps, millet and high quality bird seeds, and have learned how to catch, hold, and properly treat a tiny little bird. WOW!!!!
Yawl have BLESSED me!!! This is a good thing. For lack of a better word at the moment. I am just so happy that my little guy is rallying. Maybe he will be a 10 year old finch who knows? He sure looks good. He is singing, happy and from all the poop in the cage he is EATING plenty

Thanks for all the encouraging words, sound advice and references to look up and learn more. ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^
Blue sends you all a happy little song <3 he is a sweet little singer.

Overflowing with JOY

FIESTY! He got away from us before I could put the cream on him but had applied his 1 drop of S76 to his neck. He is almost healed. Every one else is in cages so he can have some free flight time. I think adding the Thrive for sick birds helped and he loves the Herb salad. He looks so much better! I am so happy. \:D/

Elana. Debbie276 & everybody.

Guess who scratched his face again? ~X( I put another drop of S76 on the back of his neck & creamed him up. I think the cream helps the most. He was starting to get some new feathers the little bugger. I am wondering if at this point he might have dry skin???? I swear that little turkey likes the cream. He doesn't fuss at all about having it applied, which is of course crazy cute.
His toenails are not really long. They are sharp though it doesn't take much to draw blood. What else can make birds have itchie ears?

I honestly don't know Karen.
If the cream on his face makes him feel better, then by all means I would apply a dollop of it to his little cheeks. Personally, if and when the area heals, I would try a tiny drop of olive oil, or coconut oil, just to keep the area moisturized. If it is just dry skin, then that would be helpful .

Reg. His nails, can you snip off the very tips (so that they'll not be so sharp) ?

I also would recommend applying the cream if it makes him feel better.
Sending well wishes for a speedy recovery [-o<

I agree with the others, if the cream makes him feel better, go ahead and apply it. My feeling is when birds get to be senior citizens, they get to be a bit spoiled.
