update: I have been treating Sunhine and two of the babies with the TMS for six days now. I also wormed him. They all look great. No sleeping, no puffiness and eating well. I am going to start the probiotic today. I use Morning Bird...... I have sprinkled some on their soaked seeds and put some into their water. How many days should I do this?

They have had only seeds, Miracle Meal, herb salad. NO fres food.

Sunshine still has mostly water in his poops. I do not know what else to do for him. He appears fine except for this.
Any more suggestions? I am planning on releasing the babies back into the aviairy this weekend.

Here is one of the babies. I was surprised to see head feathers already coming in.

I use probiotics for however long the treatment was for - it doesn't hurt. This is also when I would make sure they have herbs and a good oyster shell, egg shell, minerals and charcoal mix too.

But then I use probiotics in their diet at least 3 times a week anyway.

Ditto, if I'm doing it after treatment I usually do it for at least 10 days straight.
And like Misty, usually 3x a week regardless :)

Miracle Meal  :!: INCORRECT INFORMATION..... Should Read FEAST BY BIRCARE COMPANY AND AUSTRALIAN BLEND BY GOLDENFEAST :!: does contain probiotics so continue to offer that. Also you can't really overdo probiotics. In nature they ingest them everyday :D

I am so glad things turned out as well. In my earlier research on the poopology sites said that watery urine could be start of kidney disease/failure. Maybe he has some age on him. Like people each may have thier own cross to bear. I know he will live his life out in luxury with you. Hopefully it is something that will just clear up on it's own. Keep one of Sunshine's offsprings to carry on his beauty :D

This is why I love this forum. Learn something new every day. :D
I have not been giving my birds probiotics.... I have had it in my cabinet ,but didin't realize it was something I needed to be giving. I will begin immediately!

I wil be keeping one of his offspring, but am hoping to have him a long time. He isn't old. According to his band, he is only three years old. I have high hopes for him! No more breeding though...... he is finished. There are four of his eggs under another pair of gouldians that they are fostering. Their eggs were clear so I put Sunshine's under then when he went into the cage.

If you have been feeding Miracle Meal :!: INCORRECT INFORMATION... SHOULD READ FEAST BY BIRDCARE COMPANY/VETAFARM and AUSTRALIAN BLEND BY GOLDENFEAST :!: NOT MIRACLE MEAL brand then you have been giving probiotics :D
I don't give mine them everyday. Always after treating and then just occaisionally I will offer...but I too like to offer miracle Meal regularly.
I am not suggesting that Sunshine will die soon... just always be prepared for the worst. I just passed that info along because sometimes it helps to read that no matter how much we treat/medicate....sometimes it is just something that is out of our control. But again, I am hoping that it is just something that will pass.

I'm really confused...
Miracle Meal doesn't have probiotics in it...
Are you confusing probios with amino acids maybe??
Where do you see that MM has probios?

I double checked my product info to be sure I wasn't missing something.... :?

I'm glad you said something Tiffany - I too was confused. Except I'm not home to look at the package to see the ingredients.

I don't think any of the Morning Bird products have probiotics in them do they? Except the actual probiotics they sell?

OMG ... That was a major senior moment  Sorry for the incorrect information and confusion :?
You guys speak up and straighten me out any time :D

I use several soft foods. Miracle Meal being one but also Feast, ABBA 92A, and Golden Nestling and Conditioning food.

Miracle Meal is by Morning Bird.... It is thier Competitor Birdcare Company that has the product I was referring to NOT Miracle Meal. Or meant to be referring to
Birdcare Company, fomerly Vetafarm, makes a wonderful product called FEAST. I use the Gold Lable Eggfood and the FEAST insectivorous softfood. They are manufactured in th UK but are distributed in the States by Birdcare Company. They have been around for as long as I have been keeping birds.
Feast is the one that has herbal extracts, prebiotic, anti protozoal and immune system benefits. NOT Miracle Meal.

I confused the 2. Feast has more vitamins per unit also than Miracle Meal. I do taste test and performance test here (on my own) to see the preffered food and results. I find Feast to be a superior product and my birds love it with little waste. The FEAST Insectivorous formula is great for all my bug eating finches. I use this as my mian weaning food.

Again sorry for the Faux Pas.... Am I bad. Simply confused the 2 different brands in my head..... not a hard thing to do :?

Donna, maybe get some feast to mix with your Miracle Meal. Your finches will beneifit from them both. That is why I now mix several softfoods together. Need only 1 seed cup and my birds get the best of all worlds. I also use Bag O Bugs and another herbal blend that has great immune support...can't remember what it is called but will look when I am in the Bird room kitchen :D I just make a blend and keep it in the Freezer. One blend for weaning chicks and another blend for the insect eaters.

Okay, I made a trip to the Bird Kitchen to get my facts straight

The herbel I feed AUTRALIAN BLEND this is by far my most favorite food for the Gouldians. It has 50 ingredients and contains loads of probiotic. Lactobacillus, acidophilis, Lactobacillus casei, L. plantarum L. fermenum, Enterococcus faecium, and Bifidobacterium longum :!:
It also spirulina, bee pollen and then fruits, seeds, veggies.... look it up and read. It is expensive but WOW what a product.
It is made by GOLDENFEAST Inc.

The other product is an all natural bug "PREMIUM INSECT MIX"
this has lots of rosemary leaves and smell so nice to be a bug food. The leaves are a natural antioxident and is used for the perservative. so 100 natural. Also this one has Spirulina, ground oyster shells, millet and bug larvae and Pupae.

Another product that goes into my mix is Orlux insect Patee. Good bugs with honey :D

And last but not least I have BirdCare Company Probotics powder. I mix this and use in the water for 10 days after any antibiotic use.

I have a bird recipe book and a saved lable from each product (once I mix the products go into a freezer bag. I mix a bunch at one time) Good thing I have this or I would be lost :?

So you see it is not too hard for me to get these products criss crossed. I feel bad now because I have recommend the Miracle Meal due to the probiotic nature  I will never make that mistake again....
