What's confusing though is that only a few birds are affected. If it was the water for example, wouldn't ALL birds get sick?? :?

Do you feed your birds any greens or veggies or treats or other food that some of them might eat but not all of them?
Walk-in aviary with Waxbills (6 Cordon Bleu, 3 Orange Cheek, 3 Black-rumped, 1 Lavender, ), 1 European Goldfinch, 4 Gouldians, 2 Spice Finches, 6 Owl Finches, 4 Budgies and 2 male Button Quail.
I also have 2 parrotlets, 3 dogs, 1 snake and 3 freshwater fishtanks.

Just a thought - could it be a plant/greenery in the aviary that some of them are eating?

Do you have any update on this, JR? Did you bring the gouldian to the vet for a necropsy??

JR I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this. You must be distraught.
Did a necropsy show up anything?

Unfortunately I could not get up to my vet for a necropsy. I was able to speak with him though. He suggested retreating everyone for asm, and a broad spectrum antibiotic, followed by a probiotic. Everyone has been retreated for asm and are also getting antibiotics now. Once treatment is over it will be followed by the probiotic. He said that if any other bird is affected to call him and set up a necropsy.

Jr...hope this works for you. Keep us posted.

note: with water some birds may show signs before others do, their systems might not be as strong as others. We get the "boil water" warning from time to time, I use bottled water during those times or boil the heck out of the water depending on what happened.Bottle is safer if the break or warning is serious.

I hope the treatment works for your birds. There is nothing worse than NOT knowing what is wrong... [-o<

Sorry this is happening!
The first thing I would always do is toss all the food away. I remember some years ago when cats and dogs were dying because melamine got in their food to increase the protein.
I don't trust anything anymore.
