Derk It honestly looked like grinded up seed. The seed already being there could also be a possibility since they are messy eaters. I would weigh him but I'd hate to stress him out by sticking him in a plastic container LOL. I'll check his chest when I get home but he definitely eats a lot. He got up this morning, and went face first into the millet  I mixed the Miracle Meal with his regular seed and he doesn't perch on the side of the cup, he goes into the cup and eats

Meepin loves water a lot more than Cooper does, so that could explain the extra water. She still drinks water normally, but Meepin loves splashing around every night lol. His poops are looking normal for right now. The white part isn't as contained as Cooper's poop is, but that could be due to the water consumption.

Starting to think that the problem is a bit more serious than originally thought... If it's not one baby sick, it's the other. What a stressful week.

Just got home from school and this is what I see:

ImageImage

Keep in mind that he hasn't had NV powder in the last couple of days so I dont see any justification for the yellow liquid. I don't see him eating any yellow pellets from the finch food that would make his pee that yellow.

He has no other symptoms. That liquid is a bright yellow which points to liver disease but he has no distended abdomen, he isn't fluffed, no loss of appetite, nothing. I have no idea what to do right now. But I mean jesus, those are monster poops! His usual is 1/3 of the size!

His diet:

- Regular Finch Seed
- Miracle Meal https://ladygouldian.com/node/206
- Resting Season Finch Mix https://ladygouldian.com/node/209
- California Spray Millet
- Boiled Egg (which he only poops on, but at least it's offered)

I ordered the Lafeber's Granules. It's arriving Monday.

He's singing right now, just drank some water, and flew back onto his perch. He's acting completely normal. I'm terrified of him just dropping dead so I want to get to the bottom of this. I don't have an avian vet closeby so the only help I can get is online.

Based on the website I went on (http://mickaboo.org/newsletter/jan11/poop.html):

- A greenish or yellowish tinge points to liver disease.
- Monster poops: any number of problems with the gastrointestinal tract (infection, diabetes, kidney or liver disease, parasites, cancer)
- Bulk of urates: Increased volume of the urates can be caused by the type of diet, inadequate water intake, dehydration, or by kidney problems.

How can I narrow this down? Is there any medication for the liver/kidneys that I can buy for him? If he's sick, then I'm hoping this is still pretty early in its stages since he isn't acting physically sick other than his poop.

Best case scenario: Mr. Meepin likes taking big poops =)) =))
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advanced.

droppings only tell a small portion of what is going on... can you do this for me? Please catch him and dampen his belly feathers and expose all of the belly area from the vent to the mid ribcage.... like this, any feathers on the belly are easily parted in the center and can be pushed off the belly, feathers left on the belly may obscure something that needs to be seen. we are looking for discoloration, lumps bumps. When done set a heat lamp near a perch for him to dry off and warm up near

cindy When my dad gets home I'll have him catch Meepin for me.

Try using Mozilla Firefox as a browser. Google Chrome can be a pain. debbie276

Used to use Firefox for many years, chrome works better for me. Not sure that would prevent me from seeing your pictures though, especially since it's only yours I can't see. :?

cindy Water. No smell at all. If it weren't for the yellow color, I'd think it were regular water. Not attached to the poop at all. It's separated.

food fed can leach color into the urine from the feces... are they still on a fortified seed? Any of that colored?

the droppings in the cup look like they have segments, if you spread the droppings or move it with a toothpick are there undigested seed in the droppings?

cindy They are on this regular seed:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/8In1-Premium- ... b/10318459

I just did the whole toothpick thing (felt like I was in science class  )

I found a seed or two, but I'm not 100% that they are from the poop. One bit looks like it (no shell, looks partially digested but not sure), the other looked thrown in.

It just looks really grainy, but maybe that's how it's supposed to be.
