Spreckles
Nets made catching a lot easier when I was a kid. If you have a properly-sized-for-the-cage net with a short handle and smaller hoop.
You could use the hoop part to "encourage" them over to one side, preferably on the floor, then sort of gently press the hoop to the side of the cage and they will sort of naturally hop INTO the net. Then you can scoop with your hand, use the other hand to take them out of the net with no chance of escape.
Probably I acquired quite a bit of practice as a child and it will be harder than that when I try it for the first time in decades, but if I could do it when I was 7, I'm sure I can still do it when I'm mumbledy-seven, LOL!
There's just a lot less chasing around the cage with a net once you get the knack.

Turn towards home, and go there. Many overs, over woods and fields, streams and hills, many overs. Just turn towards home. How else would one go there? Perhaps it was a dream, and you have awakened from it. May the earth rise up beneath you, with home in your heart, and your person waiting.
