Woo!! We're still doing great!!

So now I need to decide how to proceed from here. I have them separated still and I need to repair them eventually, but I'm afraid of the excessive mating again.

Here's my thought: I recently bought an F030 flight. I have 6 gouldians and the 2 owls... would I be able to place them all together in here? I thought maybe having a group setting would help reduce mating urges. I believe the tech specs say 6 birds for the F030 however.

My other concern is the goulds with the owls. I know they're both supposed to be passive species, but eh, I feel like the gouldians can be a LITTLE pushy sometimes.

If not, I'd like to at least get 6 birds into the one cage. Would I be able to get away w/4 gouldians and 2 owls together? Let me know your thoughts.

I dont know anything about the owls and gouldians together. But I am thrilled your little owl girl is healthy and strong after such an ordeal! Fantastic news! \M/

I honestly don't see any major problems outting them all in the F030.

Create some little hidy holes and private areas with fake plants and shelvs, and I think all will be well.

They will all enjoy the flying room.

Yay! I'll definitley give this a try. I always thought the gouldias were going to be the pushy ones. We'll see what unfolds!!

Elana, how much longer do you think I should keep these two separated for?

Goodmorning,

As to your two little Owl luv birds...

I would pick up some of this stuff in the Pet Shop (or on line), and offer it in your egg food.
It contains some healthy oils, which may help your girlie not become eggbound again ( offered along with a Calcium source of course )

There is Vit D3 in it, (which will help her absorb the Calcium).
Plus some healthy oils, will hopefully help lubricate things along.
I have found it to be a good product.

I thought it a pretty questionable method to deal with egg binding and a very weird way to grow feathers.

Indeed!

Although I suppose the egg would pop out, but I'd better not say that on here, lest someone decides to try it out, lol.

*Never Squeeze your bird people, for any reason!!!*

uh oh lovezebs, i squeezed my bird....

(just kidding)

i've had them separated since then, and i recently got the vit. D supplement you'd mentioned. i'd imagined it being a water additive, as that's primarily how i've given items as needed--so mixing it the oil into the eggfood's a new one for me!

it says 3 drops/1 oz of food; do you measure it out with a food scale? i know you feed a larger volume of birds than i do, i just can't figure out how to oz out my eggfood. plus, i'm using commercial dry eggfood at the moment. hard boiled will be coming later on in summer.

GouldieFledge

Basically I just add a few drops to a bowl of riced or grated eggs, but we're talking 6 or 8 eggs at one shot.

With very small amounts, I would just add a couple of drops and toss it a bit to coat the dry egg food a bit. Only serve a tiny amount, to make sure they'll eat it.

And DON'T squeeze the bird for godsakes, lol.
