I'm glad you're not beating yourself up anymore...it wasn't your fault anyway :D Bri sounds like she'll make a wonderful mom!

Hi. I was away for a few days and just reading this now. I am so sorry for Bebop and your loss.

I recently posted about a starfinch I have and his oddly thin feathers and the difficulty he has getting any height. This past Sunday, I happened to bump into the breeder. He had previously offered to exchange the bird for another but I opted to keep the little guy since he appears otherwise healthy. Hopefully, I won't regret this decision.

Anyway...the breeder did say that this bird was the last in a clutch from parents that had already had a couple clutches. The bird did not have good feathers after any of the molts.

Maybe your little one came from a similar scenario. Perhaps the parents did not have quite enough 'good stuff' to put into her. In which case all you could do was give her the best home possible and it sounds like you did just that.

Thanks your nice words :) She was a very lively lady when I got her and the weeks that followed. The breeder took good care of their birds. Indeed sometimes its just a mystery. Thankfully all my other finches are doing fine. I've been watching them all carefully.

I've been following this thread and keeping my fingers crossed. It's so stressful. Keep her warm, offer good food and vitamins and that's all you can do. Went through the same thing a few days ago. Keep us posted.
