Thanks Elana. Just feel helpless and want them better. Their babies are doing ok and growing feathers now with foster parents and no one else is showing any symptoms for parasites, thank goodness. It's sad but every morning I check my little poorly kids expecting the worst. I just want them better!!!!!

The hen is back to normal! Its very good news. The poor male is not improving at all. What ever this lump is in not going away. I'll eventually move the hen away and leave the male alone in a small cage. It goes against everything we know about the larger the cage the better but his breathing is laboured and I don't want him exercised. He eats very frequently and his droppings are not back to normal so I'm not sure he is digesting properly to get the nutrients he needs. Poor thing. When the meds are complete I'll give him vitmin water. I'm also providing eggs/salad/millet in addition to seed so he can try to get what he needs. At least he has an appetite.
Also, 2 of the 3 chicks are fledged now. So small and so cute. Foster parents and other chicks are perfect, no illness. The 3rd baby is yet to fledge, his feathers are just coming through so a few days longer for him. At least things are going well with them and their mum. I just wanted to let you all know the progress.

Thanks for the update.
Personally, I would leave your girl with your boy. I think whatever he has is not contagious, and having companionship, offers him comfort for however long he has.
The tiny fledgings must be adorable
. It is such a cute stage, when they look upon their world with all the sweet innocence of youth .

Hi Elana, just now I spotted my male cuddling up to his girlfriend and I decided there and then not to take her out. She's a positive influence on him and he needs comfort.
You know those breeder cages where you can divide the sections, I've got a large one that splits into 4. I had removed all divides and was using the entire thing as a flight for 2 Societies and 2 Zebras, not breeding. When I put these 2 poorly ones into 'hospital' I divided them at the end with a blank out separator but for company I've just removed the blanking plate and am using the bars to keep them separate. It's like Christmas for the 4 in the flight, they'e loving the new friends through the bars but the poor male just sat there with his eyes closed fluffed up ignoring them. His breathing is much more laboured, he's breathing through his mouth and his beak is open. Sadly, I hate to say it but I just hope he hasn't got long.

Evening all.
It's with a heavy heart and several tears in my eye that I have had to say goodbye to my little boy. He passed away about an hour ago peacefully with me close by.
His breathing had become very laboured and he was really struggling for breath. He had collapsed onto his side in the cage with his girlfriend so I decided to take him and hold him in my hands. His eyes were closed and his breathing was raspy and loud. I put him back into his teeny tiny hospital cage but he was so out of it, almost unconscious. I put him in a quiet dark spot and after about an hour I checked on him and he had gone. I cried. I'm pathetic!
But he was my first bird along with his girlfriend of my entire flock last year. He was beautiful, big, bold and dominant. I've got 3 of his babies left as a legacy growing well and now I'm torn to rehome any boys that come of he clutch.
Sad days my finch friends. Its a sad day
