Sore on beak

Post by Keith&Belinda » Tue Jun 12, 2007 3:50 am

Hi all

We found a very young bronze mannikin which had recently fledged or been kicked out of the nest. It was missing all it's flight feathers on one wing, so we took it in with the assumption that it would return to the wild once it's feathers grew back. However, the bird has now bonded with us and is reluctant to part company... so we have it caged with a Bengalese Finch (society finch).

Over the past few days it has developed a lesion of some sort on the underside of its beak, and the area around it has become swollen. What can we do to treat it?
