Puffy and closes eyes

Puffs up and closes eyes , but also flies around alot, eats and drinks. I was thinking because he's pretty young-looking at his toenails.

He got loose this morning for an examination and it took me 30 minutes to catch him, he has alot of stamina!

Since all the birds are new, I didn't separate them. I am treating them all but all 3 meds can be used as a preventative as well.

It's easier to treat my chickens, they are a closed group (all hatched at home), so that rules out alot. So I always start treating with something for coccidiosis which is in the soil, and that's usually it.

The finch's symptoms are not much to go on.

Did you get all the finches from the same vendor/breeder? Just curious. My rule of thumb is when buying from different vendors at a show is to keep the birds separate during quarantine, treat them all for the same thing...then when quarantine and all is good, then they can mingle.

Just a heads up, change shoes/clothes after you tend to your chicken's , it doesn't matter if raised at home or not= might be the cause of your problem/problem's. Take it from my experience.

Thanks. He's doing fine. Still puffs and shakes out his feathers, but he does "sing" all day.

I got them all from the same breeder.

Lou, thanks for the heads up on biosecurity. I have 31 pet chickens and belong to a forum for 4 years, and have learned alot there. It goes for chickens as well. Whenever we have a swap meet, I get home and take all my clothes off, and don't wear those shoes out in the yard-I have "barn" shoes.
