Nekton E or Quiko Vitamin E - what's the difference?

Post by L in Ontario » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:12 am

Other than Quiko E being a little less expensive but I think you need to use more of it so maybe it balances out.

Has anyone used either with viable results?

I have been using the Nekton-S, Nekton Bio and Nekton MSA. No Quiko products available here.

Where do you get them Janine? I couldn't find any Nekton on the AviZoo website?

Nekton E and Quiko E are for fertility and I need it for the canaries and a couple of finches that have a bad track record for IF (infertile) clutches of eggs. #-o

Well isn`t that a kick in the head. #-o That`s were I buy it. I will have to look a little closer next time I go. They apparently do have Quicko. #-o Do you want me to pick you up some Vitamin E, I can always pop it in the mail and you can take it off my bill

Wheat germ oil would probably be even less expensive and it is very high in Vitamin E :)

I use WGO and CLO in my eggfood mixes for ALL my birds but I have a pair of Canaries and a pair of Gouldians that are notorious for clutch after clutch of IF eggs. It's possible they are infertile themselves but I'd like to give them every chance to prove themselves. Of course I don't want to overdose them on Vitamin E either. #-o

Yeah I'm not sure if I would add the supplement on top of the WGO and CLO since it's not a water soluble vitamin (like vitamin C..)
Maybe try the supplement in lieu of one of the oils though (maybe that's what you meant :))?

I checked around a bit and yes Vitamin E can be overdosed. So I'll have to do one or the other (eggfood with WGO or the Nekton/Quicko form of it). I'm glad you pointed that out Tiffany! =D> I'll make up some eggfood without the added WGO.

So I have to wonder if I should use Nekton (or Quicko) E at all; or is it the same as just using WGO in with the eggfood? Am I wasting my time (and money) on the powdered vits if the WGO is already doing the exact same?

I couldn't get an ingredients list for the Nekton E to know what else might be in there in addition to being a vitamin E supplement, which is why I didn't really say one was any better than the other.
It may be that the Nekton E also has other vitamins and/or minerals that are beneficial to stimulating breeding health?

Ingredients for Nekton E are listed in this link on page 5, on the left side. Only other ingredients seem to be some amino acids (and I don't even know what they are).

Thanks Debbie. I've been giving it in their drinking water for two days now.

I didn't mean the supplement isn't soluble, I meant the vitamin itself is a fat soluble vitamin, not water soluble, meaning it is stored in the body rather than excess being excreted in urine/waste.

I thought you couldn't get the ingredient list ... that's why I posted that, nothing to do with being soluble. Those are the ingredients according to the label
