hello everyone,i am new here but i have a finch called millie,we have had her now for 6 years,she is a happy little thing until these last couple of days.
I have noticed that she is pluking out he feathers,the samething happened with are canary tillie 6 years ago and we took her to the vets and the vets said that she was depressed.I have noticed also that where millie has been pulling out her feathers she looks very sore.Just wonderd if anyone could just give some advice.

Hi, Tillie, and welcome to the forum! What species is your finch? Has anything changed recently (new cage mates, diet, etc)? Usually feather plucking is a sign of stress of some sort, or they will pluck feathers for nesting material. Was she a baby when you got her? If she was an adult, and you don't know how old she was when you got her, she could be getting up in age.

Does Millie have any finch friends? She should have at least one to keep her company. As Sally said, feather plucking is often a sign of stress. So if she is alone you should get her a friend.

Six years is quiet a good age for a finch also.
