This morning I found my BB perched but unresponsive. His eyes closed and was not opening them up. When I went to grab him he just fell back off the perch and laded on his side. He opened his wings but did not fly. Day previous to this, he was eating well and very responsive. What can I give during moult to assist them. Egg food they had, feather fast vitamins they had, seeds they had, clean water they had, soaked seeds they had. What could I have missed, the male passed and now I only have a female in the cage. These birds were given to me as a gift and they were old to begin with 2006. Is that old for a gouldian?

I don't think his death had anything to do with the moult as much as his age and general health.
Sounds like your feeding a well balanced diet.

Like Debbie already mentioned, you are giving them a well balanced diet. It is just that molting is a very hard time on these fragile little ones, and when they get on in age it is just that much harder on their little bodies.

Sorry for your loss!....I am thinking that age would have had more to do with his death....You are giving them all they need in their diet....So sad

Thank you all very much. What is the average age of a BB Gouldian finch? I have read else where that it is 8 years.

I believe 6 - 8 would be average. I know of one locally that lived to 10 years.
