Gould having problems pooping

Post by karak » Sat Aug 18, 2007 12:46 pm

My Gould for the last couple days has been having horrible problems with what appears to be constipation. I have always supplied him with greens, fresh water, and different foods and no change recently occured. Now he barely flies and when I caught him I noticed that his rear is very swollen. He occasionaly goes a little bit but now he is dropping his wings and bobbing his tail almost all day. No vets anywhere nearby to check on him either. Anyone have any advice.

Are you certain you have a male?

A hen can lay eggs without a mate, just as chickens do and the symptoms you describe sound like egg binding.

If that is the case you need to act quickly to save your bird. Read this article on the subject... http://www.finchniche.com/f-eggbinding.mgi
TammieB.

Yes definantly a male. I am accustomed to egg binding, this...this appears much different.
