zebra's fighting

I don't know what to do. I'm new to the finch world but not to birds entirely. We purchased two (male?) zebras that appeared to get along fine at the store. At home, however, one is constantly chasing the other one and picking at his (?) feathers. We had to give the other antibiotics to clear the infection that started because of it. I don't know if we should separate them into two cages, which will be a major problem because we have cats and they are in a cat free room but there isn't enough space for 2 cages in there, or if we should buy another finch- or two, but the cage we have isn't really big enough to house that many birds. Any suggestions? Oh, our cage is 30" long..

A 30" cage should be big enough for 2 finches.
Can you put a wire divider in the cage?
I separated 2 aggressive zebras like that for a week, and that seemed to have worked. They could see but not attack the other bird. After the week, when I removed the wire divider, they got along and did not fight.

But, you could also have 2 incompatible zebras. If both want to be the dominate bird, in the cage, it won't work. I had that situation and finally had to get rid of one of them.
