Naughty zebras

Post by kittani79 » Tue Sep 11, 2007 8:27 pm

Bah. My zebra finches (well, not mine, but the ones at work) have been bad. Someone has bullied two of the females so badly in the last 2 days while I was off to the point where they are missing most of the feathers on their bellies/just above the tails.

Now, per usual, I'll be going to the vet with them tomorrow. But I was wondering... is there something you guys use when this happens in your own aviary? Any extra vitamin or special food or whatnot? I've still got quite a bit to learn about finches, and anything that will help them along I'm willing to try ;-).

You'll see a lot of posts about plucking. Good food (high protein), extra warmth and separation from the naughty one should do it!

They also have a product called "feather up" that is supposed to help grow back feathers a little faster. Definitely high protein like Hilary said, maybe some vitamins also... I do powdered vitamins instead of liquid b/c I hate putting the liquid vitamins in their water.
