treated with s76 and still hear clicking sound?
Been hearing clicking sound from my hen since she got in breeding condition and now shes sitting on a clutch of 5. Treated with s76 for 3 days, but i still hear her doing a clicking sound. someone told me it might be upper resp infection, is there some medicine that wont hurt the eggs or chicks that can cure her?
thanks.
thanks.

S76 is a 3 week treatment.
Give it for 2 days, each week, for 3 weeks.
I think it will take a bit of time to kill the ASM. Then you have to kill the ones in eggs, this is why you give it over 3 weeks.
Sorry don't know about the respritory meds.

I would also add a small red heat lamp, especially at night so she does not have to try and keep warm. Good Luck.

It could also have absolutely nothing to do with ASM. It could be as simple as an upper respiratory infection which is much more common than ASM anyway.

clicks worsening but shes not puffed or anything, she looks completely normal. maybe try some doxycycline to treat upper resp infections? but does it hurt the eggs?

It would be best, if you can to take your bird to an avian vet. You may be treating for the wrong thing altogether, but if you cannot: doxycycline should be safe for eggs. Safer than a bacterial infection anyhow. You have to use if for a minimum of 7 days. My vet usually recommends it for 10days at a time.
Hope your little one gets better soon.

I wouldn't use Doxycycline, personally, it's a pretty strong antibiotic.
I would probably start with something simple like amoxicillin if you think it's just an upper respiratory thing.

thanks for the help so far but im still worried, so im going to give some more details maybe someone had experienced this before. She looks completely normal and she sings too, i mean if it was ASM she cant sing as far as i know. sometimes im near her cage and i hear nothing at all and sometimes she just do this clicking sound. maybe its nothing at all? the eggs will hatch in about 9 more days, by the way can it be the seed has dust with it? or because im giving powder vitamins with water? don't know im just trying to guess what can be the problem.

What type of bird are you talking about here because most female birds do not sing.
If a bird has air sac mites it may prevent the bird from singing but not always. If you already treated for mites I thinks it's safe to rule them out especially if it's not acting ill at all.
There are times when my birds take the seed hull and play with them in their mouths making a clicking sound, are you sure it's not something like that?

Re: treated with s76 and still hear clicking sound?
The clicking can be respiratory or air sac mites in the throat. Another question is what is the poop looking like? Any white around eyes, beak or ears? Is the vent clean and neat? These are all things I check for when I am not sure if a bird is sick or not. Then, I watch while administering Vitalize in the water to help boost their ability to fight whatever may be going on. If it's nothing, the Vitalize does not hurt, but can give them strength to fight something on their own.

I had a society finch that had a clicking sound and open mouth breathing. It was an upper respiratory problem. I gave it Erythromycin for birds. Fixed him right up. I hope you find out what is bothering yours!

finchmix by white you mean discharge? or color? her nostrils and such looks clean to my eye but noticed her beak is becoming white but not with discharge or something just the color of the beak.

Re: treated with s76 and still hear clicking sound?
I was thinking of feather color changes or if you noticed white spots around her face, which would indicate mites. If her beak is changing color and she is not a gouldian, I have read about dietary problems that lead to poor beak coloring/development.
