sick red faced parrot finch is having convulsions after noticing the bird was unwell i placed it into the hot box for the evening. the bird has become very stiff pushing its legs out straight and arching its back. The bird has had no different food then normal, is not egg bound. externally the bird looks extremely alert. eyes bright and focused. does anyone have any ideas. i no it is not poison as no other birds have been effected. look forward to any ideas
thanks

hi sable
it sounds like your bird has had a stroke to me..if it gets over it it should be ok but may end up with a leg sticking out one side or a wing dropped

Hi Ken Thanks for the answer unfortunately she passed away this morning after managing to keep her alive all night with high energy fluids. Very strange, she was only a year old.

hi sable
it certainly sounded like a stroke to me..so at least you know it would not have suffered long.

Hi Ken thanks for the information, Lucky for me I do have spare red headed parrot finches so I was able to find another mate for the original male. Needles to say he was very happy with his new friend and I think I can expect new chicks very soon. thanks again Sable

So sorry for your loss Sable. It's sad when you lose a finch...

Thanks, your not wrong, you try so hard to ensure they have the best and then something like this gets them.
