Im trying to build my own bird medicin cabinet for emergency. We have quite hard regulations in Sweden about antibiotics and such, and you cant find anything over the counter.

I have S76 and Scatt, but antibiotict always ends up stuck in customs... so I have nothing like that. I will have to consult a avian vet for that, if I need it in the future.

In additions to this I have different types of vitamin suppliment sutch as:
Feather Fast
Hearty Bird
Breeders Blend
Iodine supplement

I found a spray called Dyna-Mite spray on http://www.ladygouldianfinch.com/product_dyna-mite.php that I thoght could be usefull if my birds catch some kind of feather mites in the future.

Have you guys tried it? Is it safe for small birds like finches (it dosent say on the package) But it has a picture of a parrot on it so maby its to strong for small birds?

I like the fact that its non toxic and soothing on irritations on the skin, and that you spry it on so I dont have to catch the birds

Do you have any more sugestions on what might come in handy (as long as its not some form of antibiotics).

Of course I feed them with sprouted seeds, dry seeds, weggies, egg food, hard boiled egg, cutlebone, fruits, spray millet and occationally appel cider vinegar to boost the feathers.

I have never used this, but my line of thinking is that she probably would not offer this on her site, unless it is finch-safe. Or, if it were not, she would note that in the product info. But when in doubt, check. You can send an email and ask her; I'm sure she would be more than happy to help you out! I have ordered both from her and her sister's site (www.ladygouldian.com) and both have outstanding, fast customer service, in my experience.

I actually created a first aid kit from this list:

So far, I haven't needed it, thankfully! But I feel good knowing I have some stuff on hand.

I use a mite and lice spray when I bring home a new bird.
Contrary to what the instructions say, I can't figure how to spray the bird w/o catching it. If I spray the bird in the cage, I can only spray its back. If I try to spray the front/bottom, I will get the spray into the birds eye. So I just catch the bird spray one pump on its back and another pump on its bottom/belly.

Yes I think it comes in quite hany to have those things at home, in case of an emergency or when you have new arrivals. Ill try this spray out, says it sooths irritation as well, so that could be a good thing if they scrach o mutch.
