Mite treatment question

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of advice.
A lady i sold a finch to a while ago recently got a new one and was told they hadnt been treated for mites by the pet shop assistant. She asked me if she should treat them for mites so i said that i think its better to be safe and to treat them. She treated them today and is finding 'orange powdery stuff' in the cage and in their nest. Does this soound like dead red mites or anything similar?
I havent got any pictures just now im afraid.

I fit is dead red mites will she need some spray to make sure nothing is living in the cage or anything?

Sorry it isnt the clearest but you can see orange/red dots on the perch, any help, advice?

Looks like a red mite infestation.She need to treat the birds and disinfect the cage with bleach and water, spray nests and perches well. Everything needs to be cleaned even a cage cover. erches and nest can be soaked in bleach and water for about 15 minutes then rinsed well and sin dried.

The area around the cage may need to be cleaned also. Make sure all perches and cage is dried completely before putting the birds back. Even bleach out the little bath tub if she uses one for the birds, clean seed and water cups to.

Just been told on efinch by the page owner it looks more like blood. So im a bit confused
Ive asked her if one of them has any cuts or anything to see if it is blood or if we can rule this out.

Are the spots moving?....could be blood splatters from scratching....one easy way to tell if it is mitesis to put a white sheet over the cage at night when the possible mites come out to feed. If they are red mites you will see them on the sheet. Can you take the perch out and inspect it. Can you check the bird over?
