Hopefully I'm just being an overly protective new mum but....
This morning (a few hours ago) I put Squeak and Sqwark in a new big cage (inside)equipped with everything, they seemed happy enough but 2hrs later they are huddled up together on the top perch, fluffed up and both breathing heavily and quite fast. I have never seen them sleep during the day before, usually they are spritely and alert all day, could something be wrong or could it be stress from moving home? Gosh I'd hate to lose them now, I've grown so attached to them....

False alarm! Phew!!

They've both 'woken' (I'm assuming they were just asleep) up now and flitting around, feeding and singing happily.
Gawd...LOL

I'll say thanks anyway..

Finches normally nap during the day :)

At least mine do. They fly around a lot in the morning... usually nap around our lunch time... then fly around again and then nap again, and then are active again for awhile before night time.

Usually switching their environment can be stressful. Like when I go on a trip and have to sleep in another state and live out of a suitcase, I'm not usually my normal self

Imagine how stressful moving can be for us! I'm sure it is the same for finches. I think it is important to find a really great cage/aviary and keep them in it for good!

Yes it seems they were just sleeping today  ..but thank goodness. I've never witnessed them sleeping during the day before, they're usually very active.
They are now in the cage they will be staying in so I hope they like it!
