Using other meds in between Iverlux treatments?
I was just curious if you can use other meds in between Iverlux treatments for example:
Iverlux for 2 days and then worm away for 5
Then Iverlux for 2 and probiotics for 4
Nothing for 1 day then Iverlux for 2 and worm away again for 5.
Then probiotics again for 4.
Is that safe or should you just do Iverlux for 2 and then probiotics? Or just do Iverlux and no probiotics until the entire treatment is complete?

Dayna I believe Wormaway is a one day treatment then a week from the day you first used it you repeat the dose.
http://www.morningbirdproducts.com/prod ... maway.html
I start with Ronex12%, 7 days
probiotics 2 to 3 days
Deworm 1 day
probiotics 2 to 3days
deworm again a week later
probiotics 2 to 3 days
I will add coccicare if the birds are from a questionable source.
I do realize that that quarantine proceedures according to ladygouldian.com have changed but this is what I do, treatment/prevention/medications are a personal choice. For me since birds can hide the fact they are carrying parasites/illness and not show symptoms until breeding or stressed I treat and watch them for 3 to 4 weeks before adding to my flock.

Oh oops. Ok that was a bad example and slightly embarrassing
Thanks for clearing that up Cindy. I should have researched a better example

I just thought if you could use something else in between treatments it would lessen the quarantine from almost 8 weeks to 4 roughly.

Re: Using other meds in between Iverlux treatments?
2 months is a long time but if there is a reason for concern like not really knowing where the birds come from, if imported and held in quarantine say in Canada before arriving in the states then a long quarantine is important especially if wild caught or their previous home was not a healthy one and the breeders stock was a bit iffy.
I usually do 3 to 4 weeks perhaps 5 weeks. I did hold all my owls in quarantine for 2 months just to make sure they were alright...some of my pairs came from Canada (imports).

On new birds I actually use Worm Away for 2 days, then repeat in 7-10 days with another 2 day dose. This is to make sure you get the full life cycle.
It's safe to use two days in a row.
