Hi everyone, if you could help me at all that would be amazing.
I recently bought two male zebra finches from a local pet store here in Vancouver BC. They seem totally fine, they sing, eat, they even built a nest together. Now heres the the thing, the one finch after a few days I noticed his back toe was fairly large and it had a dark spot near the base of it, which has now grown into some kind of dark mass, extending from his toe. He seems fine and this thing does not seem to bother him. The second finch the last two days has been resting on one foot and after examining him it appears to be a bit swollen in the middle and slightly darker in tone.
Does anyone have any idea what this is and what I can do??

i am not sure what is wrong with their feet... would you be able take a close up photo of their feet and post the pics? then hopefully other very experienced forum members (who have way more knowledge than me!) will be able to take a look and help

to post the photos, just look under the area where you type a post, and click on "choose file". find it on your computer and then hit "add the file" to the right!

could you get a better picture of the area of the foot you are speaking about, it will help us see better what you are talking about.

not knowing your set up, but are mosquitoes a possibility. The symptoms are similar to mozzzie bites often to painted finches in OZ.

Thanks all, I will try to post a picture soon but my computer has recently bitten the dust so uploading photos will take awhile. They still seem okay and I started giving them avian vitamins incase they were not getting enough nutrition previously. They seem to be more active and Eggs, the one who was perching on one leg has stopped that behavior. So I am hoping it was just bumblefoot or something related to nutrition!
